Bladonmore content supports ArcelorMittal Orbit unveiling

The ArcelorMittal Orbit will be built in the Olympic Park and will play a lasting role in the legacy of the London 2012 Olympics.

Film and editorial content generated by Bladonmore was used at the press conference to announce the unveiling of the 400 ft sculpture designed by Turner prize-winning artist Anish Kapoor and leading architect Cecil Balmond for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The event, held at City Hall on 31st March 2010, was hosted by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, Lakshmi Mittal, Chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal, Tessa Jowell, Secretary of State for Culture, Cecil Balmond, Deputy Chairman of Arup, and Anish Kapoor.

Bladonmore was commissioned by ArcelorMittal to create a short film and provide editorial content for a 16-page brochure which both formed part of the press pack distributed at the launch. The video, shown at the start of the press conference, tells the story of how Boris Johnson first approached Mr Mittal in a cloakroom at the World Economic Forum in Davos and persuaded him to support the construction of a massive steel sculpture to commemorate the London 2012 Olympics. The film and brochure include interviews with the key people involved in the project.

Nicola Davidson, Vice-President of ArcelorMittal, said: "Bladonmore's hard work in the week before the press conference helped to make the launch of the ArcelorMittal Orbit a big success. This was a very special event for ArcelorMittal and we felt it was important to provide the media and observers with as much depth and context to the project as possible. Bladonmore created a brochure and movie of great quality which helped us communicate the story behind the sculpture and added a lot of value to the event."
