Improved storytelling at a global banking group

UniCredit’s Corporate and Investment Bank wanted to improve the pitching and presentation skills of its senior bankers. The CEO identified storytelling as crucial in winning mandates and consolidating existing relationships. Bladonmore was commissioned to design and deliver the programme across eight countries and three continents.

Approach

Bladonmore worked with UniCredit’s senior management team to design a storytelling programme that replicated the exact scenarios where the bankers needed to up their game – formal pitches, meetings with important clients and presentations to large audiences. We also included fun elements that took the participants out of their work environment and required them to consider the fundamental principles of storytelling, without having to use the technical language of banking. Once the agenda was agreed, Bladonmore administered and delivered the programme globally, working with and coaching UniCredit teams in Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland, the UK, Hong Kong and the USA.

Result

The programme was assessed by UniCredit’s HR function as being a significant success, with 89% of delegates reporting that they had improved their pitch performance as a result of the coaching. A second wave of the programme was commissioned with a further 150 delegates trained.
