Pandemic portal wins multiple accolades for UniCredit

Digital communication has been vital during the Coronavirus crisis and support for colleagues has become a crucial part of the online mix. Perhaps it’s no surprise then that UniCredit’s communications response to the pandemic – One UniCredit – has collected a clutch of accolades this past year, including a global internal communications award.

Bladonmore worked on the project from the start, helping the Italian banking group respond to the unprecedented communications challenge that it faced as Coronavirus spread across Europe in February 2020. Tens of thousands of UniCredit employees were forced to work from home, while only a few bank branches remained open to maintain essential services. This presented several urgent communications needs: to share important information, to boost morale and to unite 85,000 UniCredit employees during this challenging time.

Just a week after being commissioned, the One UniCredit microsite was launched by the Bladonmore team with a video message from UniCredit’s CEO, with supporting films and articles. Bladonmore worked with the in-house team and UniCredit’s external advisors, FinElk, on the project. The portal became the go-to hub for employees, customers and other stakeholders to find important information about the bank’s response to the crisis and to learn how to grapple with issues that have become the ‘new normal’.

Since March 2020, over 400 different articles and films have been published on the site in English, Italian and German, including a wealth of user-generated content.

One UniCredit was recognised at the 2020 Global Content Awards in November. These celebrate the work of in-house teams and agencies across the world that create high quality content to attract, engage and retain an audience.

Selecting the winners, the jury said One UniCredit was a “brilliant campaign: thorough, detailed, and the result of an impressive piece of work. A really strong execution of an informative and educational content hub, for employees to use to help them through a very difficult time.”

This award follows another win in October at the UK Content Awards, again in the Best Internal Communication Content Campaign category. One UniCredit has also been recognised at the Corporate and Financial Awards for Most Effective Crisis Communications and Best Use of Digital Media. It was also shortlisted at the PR Week Awards.
