New approach to film-making for annual investor event

When PAI Partners wanted to tell the story of a recent deal, we developed a high-pace film-making process that created a perfect mood for the story in record time
Context
PAI Partners – a pre-eminent private equity firm, investing in market-leading companies in Europe and North America – was preparing to tell the story of a landmark deal, Tropicana Brands Group, at its 2023 AGM.
PAI reached out to Bladonmore to create a film to tell the story. We had to compress our timelines and find new ways of working to deliver a film that distilled this highly complex deal into a few minutes of storytelling.

Navigating complexity at pace was the story of the deal and shaped the feel and the form of the film we created about it.
Approach
Given the importance of this landmark deal, we needed PAI’s investors to understand:
- How PAI was able to carve out the Tropicana business which had for years been an unloved part of the food and beverages giant, PepsiCo
- The phenomenally complex and time-critical processes involved in extracting a business from its parent group and building the infrastructure – tech, talent and supply chains – to become freestanding while keeping day-to-day operations running
- The differentiated nature of the PAI Performance Group (PPG) – an in-house team of operational experts with all of the necessary skills and experience to deliver these complex transactions
We used a new approach to editing, filming each participant telling the story in full, and sending our recordings to the editor as soon as they finished. Our editing team then stitched together the best parts of each speaker to create a single film that told the story from multiple perspectives.
The approach took advantage of time zones, so we shot film whilst the UK-based editors slept, having it ready for them to edit in the UK daytime.

Following the film’s screening at the PAI Partners AGM in May 2023, the response was overwhelmingly positive.
